Haulage : Mobile Phones - Driving

It is an offence to use a Mobile Phone Whilst Driving and can result in a £60 fine and 3 points on your license. Drivers must have proper control of their vehicles at all times. If you drive in a careless or dangerous manner you could be prosecuted for the offence. The penalties include an unlimited fine and up to two years imprisonment.

It is an employer's responsibility to ensure as far as is reasonably practicable the health, safety and welfare of all employees who use a Mobile Phone in order to undertake their day to day activities.

Employers must ensure that employees are given adequate information to ensure a proper understanding of the health and safety issues involved with the operation and use of mobile phones.

The co-operation of all members of management and staff is required to ensure full implementation of this guidance.
